SYNOPSIS
On the 27th, in the month of horror and terror, we will screen the film Frankenstein, in which the live soundtrack will be in charge of the Filarmónica Nossa Senhora das Neves, with the musical direction of Hélio Soares. The entrance will be strictly decorated and we invite our spectators to dress up as well. There will be a prize for the best adult and child costume.
Don’t miss the screening of this classic from the world of cinema!

Michael Shapiro was commissioned in 2001 by The Chappaqua Orchestra’s Boris Koutzen Memorial Fund to write the soundtrack for the classic film Frankenstein (1931), directed by James Whale and starring Colin Clive and Boris Karloff. The world premiere of the work with live orchestra and film took place in October 2002 at the Jacob Burns Film Center of the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York and since its premiere it has hosted more than 40 productions worldwide.
Unlike Bride of Frankenstein (1935), with its lush score by Franz Waxman, the original Frankenstein was produced without a score. Many critics, such as Leonard Maltin, have noted that Frankenstein badly needs music. Shapiro’s 70-minute soundtrack was written to play over the film’s dialogue. For modern moviegoers, Shapiro’s haunting music significantly heightens the film’s emotional impact.
