SYNOPSIS
As part of the «Jop 2023 Easter Meeting», taking place between the 3rd and 10th of April in São Miguel, the Coliseu Micaelense will host the concert “9th Symphony by Beethoven” performed by the Young Orquestra Portuguesa and conducted by maestro Pedro Carneiro and Maestro Assistant Henrique Constância. This concert will feature the work “Estados” (2016) by the Miguel composer Sara Ross (b. 1989) for soprano and orchestra with poems by Ricardo Reis and Margarida Depais. By Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), the famous Symphony nº.9 (1824), one of the most emblematic works of classical music. To sing the famous hymn to Joy, the Participatory Choir, made up of choir singers from the Azores, joins the JOP. During this first meeting on the islands, chamber music concerts, gatherings and activities with local associations will also take place.
