As part of the World Day for Awareness and Awareness of Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy (DMD / BMD), which is celebrated on September 7, the APN – Associação Portuguesa de Neuromusculares and the Coliseu Micaelense join the global movement, with the aim of drawing attention to the existence of this rare neuromuscular disease, which affects 1 in 3,500 male children. Since the disease also affects some women, although there are very few symptomatic women worldwide, there is a significant number of carriers of the mutation that can be transmitted to their children. Therefore, this year, the initiative is alluding to the “Duchenne and Women” campaign.
